Description	:	Clarence Albert Pearson was born on August 5 1889, to Clarence Richard and Mary Ann (Patterson) Pearson in Wellsville, KS. Clarence was the oldest of nine children. He traveled with his parents as a boy, by covered wagon, to various parts of western United States, from the Ozarks through Oklahoma on to Oregon and finally settled at North Platte, NE. He was married... Read More	Clarence Albert Pearson was born on August 5 1889, to Clarence Richard and Mary Ann (Patterson) Pearson in Wellsville, KS. Clarence was the oldest of nine children. He traveled with his parents as a boy, by covered wagon, to various parts of western United States, from the Ozarks through Oklahoma on to Oregon and finally settled at North Platte, NE. He enlisted in the US Army from North Platte, served honorably during World War I, and was discharged in the fall of 1917. Bert then went to the Simla, CO community where he made his home. He was married on the evening of the 25th of December, 1922, to Ruth Esther Smith, of the Pleasant Plains community, southwest of Limon, CO. To this union four children were born: Clarence Benjamin Pearson, Ethel May Pearson Manuwal, both of Simla, CO; Albert Lee Pearson of Ramah, CO; and Robert Earl Pearson of Kuhn's Crossing community, north of Simla, CO. He was survived by his wife, Ruth Esther, of Aurora, CO; all of his children; one sister, Bessie North of Plainview, NE; three brothers, Lloyd E of Simla, CO, Charles M of Fair Oaks, CA, and Henry O of Loveland, CO; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one grandchild. He made his living and raised his family at Simla by engaging in various enterprises, such as learning of the carpenter trade. Other enterprises were: driver of the rural mail route south of Simla, operator of the Simla Electric power generating plant and owner of Bert's Place service station in Simla. He was also employed by Elbert County for fourteen years, was a scrap iron dealer and a mechanic. In February, 1951, he moved with his family to Aurora, CO, where he worked in civil service at Lowery Air Force Base, as a mechanic for thirteen years. Bert retired in April of 1964 and continued to make his home in Aurora, until his death, on October 6 1970, at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 1 day. During his years in Simla, Clarence was active in community and civil affairs; he was a member of the I O O F Lodge; a long time member of the Frank King Post of the American Legion, where he was active at decorating the graves of Veterans. In Aurora, Bert was active for ten years in the Isaac Walton League of America, an organization conserving soil, water, woods and wildlife. He also was a member of Veterans of World War I, Aurora Barracks No 3129. Clarence accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was active in the undenominational church of God of Aurora. Funeral services were held October 10 1970 at 1:00 pm in Simla, CO with interment in the Simla Cemetery. Rev Hershal R Bauer officiated. Casket bearers were Clarence B Pearson, Albert Lee Pearson, Robert Pearson, Sam Manuwal, Lloyd Pearson and Henry Pearson.
