He served in World War II with company C in the... Read More	Clifford Clinton Wichman, 73, Topeka, died Sunday, May 2, 1993, at a Topeka hospital. Mr. Wichman worked for Hankamer Ready Mix 20 years before he retired in 1977. He also was car dealer and farmer. He was born Nov. 12, 1919 in Greenleaf, the son of Diedrich G. "Dick" and Carrie Knudsen Wichman. He attended Greenleaf schools and lived near Greenleaf more than 20 years. He moved to Blue Rapids in 1941. He moved to Silver Lake in 1954 and later to Topeka. He served in World War II with company C in the 21st infantry in the Philippines. On May 23, 1945, he was wounded in action and was awarded the Bronze Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged Oct. 5, 1946, at Fitzsimmons General Hospital in Denver. He was a former member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenleaf, and a meme of Topeka North Post no. 400 of the American Legion in Topeka and the Teamsters Union. He was married to Ethel Irene Keefover June 9, 1941, in Hiawatha. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Betty Jo Rice and Sue Ann Wichman, both of Topeka and Linda Jo Henderson, Shawnee; a son Gene Victor Wichman, Silver Lake; a sister, Katherine Smith, Axtell; 11 grand-children; and 14 great grandchildren. Services will be Wednesday at Parker Price mortuary. Topeka North post no. 400 of the American Legion will conduct graveside services at Prairie Home Cemetery. Mr. Wichman will lie in state Tuesday at the mortuary.
