Hare Deluny Lawrence Hare was born in Hamilton county, Ohio, March 4, 1829. Died in Glasco, Kansas, Dec. 5, 1908, aged 70 years, 9 months and 1 day. Early in his life he removed with his parents to Noble county, Indiana, where he grew to manhood and united in marriage with Rebecca Burk. To this union were born three sons and six daughters, all of whom survive him. In 1849 he moved to Iowa, and from thence to Missouri in 1861. He came to Kansas in 1871, and was an honored and respected citizen of Glasco at the time of his death. In 1895 he suffered the loss of his companion by the hand of the enemy, death. Four years later, in 1899, he was again united in marriage, to Fannie Grantier, who is left to mourn his loss. Early in life he united with the church commonly known as the Disciples of Christ, but later he united with the Advent Christian church, of which he was a member at the time of his death. Brother Hare was a man noted for his honesty, integrity and industry. He was generous to a fault, if generosity can be called a fault. But his life's work is done; he sleeps in death. We have laid him in the grave to await the coming of Jesus, at which time "All that are in the graves shall hear his (Christ's) voice and shall come forth (from the grave) they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life, and they that have done evil unto the resurrection of damnation." -- Jno. 5:28-29. The funeral was held in the Methodist Episcopal church and was conducted by Rev. J.T. Bates, pastor of said church, assisted by the writer. Brother Hare leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn his loss. May God comfort and bless them, and help us all to live in righteousness and true holiness. C. T. It was confidently hoped that he would soon be as well as ever, when, Saturday afternoon, he was stricken and death came quickly.
