After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1943, Don served his country in the U.S. Navy Seabees and was part of Wake Island. Following his military discharge, Don returned home and was united in marriage to Florence J. Kinart on February 10, 1947. Williams, age 87, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Florence; daughter, Sandra Viola in 2012; brother, Roy Williams; and grandson, Bryan Ryder. Survivors include his daughters, Patty Ryder and son-in-law, Mike, Peggy Roarty and son-in-law, Pat Roarty, all of Council Bluffs; 5 grandchildren, Tracy Sell, Mike Viola, Tiffany Merit and husband, Brian, Megan Kruse and husband, Ljay, and David Roarty; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Judy Tallman and husband, Ed, of Whiting, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews; and Don's best friend, his dog Timmy. Visitation 6-8 pm July 6 at Cutler-O'Neill Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home, 545 Willow Avenue, Council Bluffs, IA. The Funeral Service will be 11 am, Monday, July 7, also at the funeral home. A luncheon at the Walnut Hill Reception Center will follow the burial. Memorials suggested to the Kidney Foundation.
