Description	:	Donald G. Skow, age 94, of Council Bluffs, passed away August 15, 2017, at his home. Don was born April 12, 1923, in Persia, Iowa, to the late William and Mabel (Richardson) Skow. At the age of 10, Don and his family moved to Council Bluffs, where he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1941. Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Don was born April 12, 1923, in Persia, Iowa, to the late William and Mabel (Richardson) Skow. At the age of 10, Don and his family moved to Council Bluffs, where he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1941. Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Upon his discharge, Don returned to Council Bluffs to begin a career in insurance. Don worked as an underwriter for Physicians Mutual-Omaha for 25 years, retiring in 1985. Don’s first wife, Kathleen Potter Skow, died at age 25, leaving him to raise their 2 ½ year old son, Michael. In 1970, Don found love again and married Charlotte Fritzer Emerson. While Don continued his work at Physicians Mutual, Charlotte kept busy as a radio host at KIWR, in Council Bluffs. Don and Charlotte were married 30 years before her passing in 1999. Don was a member of Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church; Eagles Club #104; and the German-American Society, in Omaha, Neb. In addition to his parents and wives, Don was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Robert, Harold, Leonard and Richard; sister, Marie Helm; and special friend, Donna Foje. Don is survived by his son, Mike (Jenny) Skow, of Omaha; 3 grandchildren, Kerri, Michele, and Lori; 7 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Catherine “Kate” Shannon, June Hughes, both of Council Bluffs, Connie Riddle, in Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service, Thursday, 11 a.m., at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery with a lunch following at the Walnut Hill Reception Center, 1350 E. Pierce St. Visitation with the family, one hour prior to the service on Thursday, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Bethany Heights Assisted Living Community or Hospice of SWI.
