Description	:	Doris A. Petersen, of Council Bluffs, passed on to her heavenly home, on November 10, 2018, peacefully in her home surrounded by her 7 children. Doris was born in Adair, Iowa, to Henry and Lillie Vokt. She graduated from Adair High School, in 1953 and married her husband of over 59 years, Melvin, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair, on June 7, 1953. Doris and Melvin lived in Council Bluffs, where they raised their 7 children and where Doris worked for over 24 years at Mercy Hospital before her retirement in 1998. Doris was richly blessed with many,... Read More	Doris A. Petersen, of Council Bluffs, passed on to her heavenly home, on November 10, 2018, peacefully in her home surrounded by her 7 children. Doris was born in Adair, Iowa, to Henry and Lillie Vokt. She graduated from Adair High School, in 1953 and married her husband of over 59 years, Melvin, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair, on June 7, 1953. Doris and Melvin lived in Council Bluffs, where they raised their 7 children and where Doris worked for over 24 years at Mercy Hospital before her retirement in 1998. Doris was richly blessed with many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Doris regularly attended Underwood Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed singing her favorite Lutheran Hymns. Preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lillie Vokt; her husband, Melvin; her brother, Henry Vokt; her sisters, Dorothy Schuler and Mary Ellen Stowell; her grandson, Joseph Mosqueda; and her daughter-in-law, Alice Petersen. Doris is survived by children, daughter, Vicki Lane (James); son, Melvin Dean (Michael); son, Marlin (Eve Roberts); son, Monte; daughter, Laurie Mosqueda (Charles); son, Michael (Michelle) and son Matthew (Amanda). Visitation, Sunday, November 18, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Cutler O'Neill Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be held Monday, November 19, 2018, 10 a.m., at the Underwood Lutheran Church, Underwood, Iowa. Interment immediately following the service, at Fisher Cemetery, Underwood. Luncheon to follow, at Underwood Lutheran Church. The family request that memorials be made to the Underwood Lutheran Church Building Fund and/or the American Cancer Society.
