She was the widow of Munsey Fields Cox. Born April 22, 1919 at Alleghany County, N.C. to William and Luetta Rose Wooten. She was a member of Cox's Chapel United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women and a very active member of Cox's Chapel Grange. She was a member of Cox's Chapel United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women and a very active member of Cox's Chapel Grange. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Danny Carico of Cox's Chapel; six sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Cox of Independence, Va., Bobby and Rebecca Cox of Christiansburg, Va., Bill and Patricia Cox of New Orleans, La., Troy and Cheryl Cox of Galax, Va., David and Daphne Cox of Houston, Texas, Dennis and Janie Cox of Cox's Chapel; one sister, Carrie Phipps of Sparta, N.C.; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive. The body is at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, Va. Funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in Cox's Chapel United Methodist Church, Mouth of Wilson, Va. Interment in church cemetery. Rev. Susan Sides and Rev. Shirley Jones officiating. Body will lie in state at church thirty minutes preceding service. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7 to 9 p.m. at funeral home.
