She was born June 13, 1923, in Texas County, MO, the daughter of James Sidney and Clara Edna "Mae" (Bowen) Goodman. She was reared in Texas County and later moved with her family to Oak Mills area, where she attended Oak Mills and Atchison schools. Mrs. Vandover was a member of the Sumner Saddle Club. She attended Lancaster United Methodist Church. She married Donald Leon Vandover on April 26, 1940, in St. Joseph, MO. He passed away on May 14, 1988. Survivors include a son; Donald E. Vandover, in Washington state, a daughter; Clara Mae Vandover, Apple Valley, CA, a sister; June Pennington, Atchison, and four grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home in Atchison. Burial will be in Sumner Cemetery, south of Atchison. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lancaster United Methodist Church or to Atchison Medicalodge and sent in care of the funeral home.
