Description	:	Douglas Paul Mauer, 19, 720 Crest Drive, was found dead Wednesday, July 10 in the Kansas River. The Shawnee County Sheriff's Department said Mr. Mauer was last seen alive early Tuesday as he waded ashore from a party on a sand bar in the river. County Detective Scott Holladay said the body was found in the river about 75 feet from the south bank just north of the Menninger Foundation and that no foul play was suspected in the death. He was born June 25, 1966 in Topeka, the son of Charles J. and Ruby A. Urban Mauer. He was graduated from Topeka High School in 1985 and during his junior and senior years studied welding at Kaw Area Vocational Technical School. Mr. Mauer was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mauer, 720 Crest Drive; a sister, Mrs. Brenda Sandefur, Topeka; a brother, Brian J. Mauer, 720 Crest Drive; and grandparents Jacob and Ludwina Befort Urban, Nevada, Mo. Mass of Christian burial will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Bauer will lie in state from 2 until 9 p.m. Friday at Brennan Funeral Home where parish rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
