Read More	Dr Samuel Hensley Johnson Birth 28 June 1814 in Bedford County, Virginia Death 23 July 1842 in Union, Indiana 28 years and 25 days Samuel Hensley Johnson was born on 28 June 1814 in Bedford County, Virginia. He was the oldest child of Elizabeth Russell Hensley and Garland Johnson. Around 1824, his father moved his growing family first to Cincinnati, Ohio, and shortly after to Union County, and settled about a mile and a half from Liberty, the county seat of said county. Garland Johnson and Stephen Butler, with one or two other families of Friends or Quakers, commenced a settlement a mile and a half south of Liberty, Union County, Indiana, and erected a Friends meeting-house. Samuel married Mary Elizabeth Butler in Union County, Indiana, on May 15, 1834, when he was 20 years old. To this marriage three children were born: Walter Stanton, born May 24, 1835 ; Matilda Elizabeth, December 30, 1836, and Pleasant William, November 7, 1838 in Liberty, Union County, Indiana. Dr Samuel Hensley Johnson died on July 23, 1842, in Union, Indiana, when he was 28 years old. His death brought about by the rigors of being a frontier doctor. Mary Elizabeth Butler Johnson, after living a widow for seven years, married Seth Butler Stanton, who was a widower with a family of eight children.
