Description	:	Earl E. McCall, 74, Topeka, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at a Topeka hospital. He was born June 23, 1929, at Uniontown, Ky., the son of Ira E. and Zola M. Green McCall. He moved to Silver Lake during his sophomore year and graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was wounded. McCall, 74, Topeka, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at a Topeka hospital. He was born June 23, 1929, at Uniontown, Ky., the son of Ira E. and Zola M. Green McCall. He moved to Silver Lake during his sophomore year and graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was wounded. Upon leaving the military, he was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant first class. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. after 37 years of service. He married Lavina J. Mauer on Dec. 29, 1951, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Topeka. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Charlotte E. McCall, a son, Michael A. McCall and his wife, Jeri, and their children, Adam and Rachel, a daughter, Lynette J. McCall Nelson and her children, Joseph and Melissa; and a sister, Sally McCall Cook of Choctah, Okla. Mr. McCall was laid to rest in Mount Calvary Cemetery following a private family graveside service. It was his great love for people which kept him busy in a variety of activities in his post-retirement years. His distinctive laugh was recognized and appreciated by family, friends and strangers alike. The sole expression of sympathy, as requested by his family, is to continue to remember him in their masses, communions and prayers as well as attending the mass to be said for the repose of his soul. It will be held at 7:55 a.m Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel was in charge of arrangements. Topeka Capital-Journal, 12/20/2003
