Description	:	Our dear father Edgar John Lukefahr passed away May 16th surrounded by his children and grandchildren after an extended illness at age 95. He fought courageously to the end. He fought courageously to the end. Edgar was born to John and Sarah Fox Lukefahr on December 4, 1918, in Bay City, Texas. The family moved to a farm in Greely, Nebraska in 1922 where Edgar grew up. Edgar moved with his brother Bill to California in 1939 where they enlisted in the Army. He served in England during 1943 and later as a combat medic on the German front. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Combat Medic Badge, and the Eastern Tour of Operations Ribbon with two battle stars, as well as five other citations. He considered his military experience one of his proudest achievements. In 1954, Edgar met and married Hazel Donaldson Walling of Council Bluffs and together they raised four children. They were married for 41 years. Hazel passed away on May 16, 1955, which is 19 years to the day of Edgar's own passing. Edgar worked as a sheet metal worker for the Union Pacific Railroad until 1983. After retirement, he pursued many other interests including collecting and refurbishing antique trunks and other furniture. He also constructed many small sheds, which he sold and are distributed throughout many backyards in Council Bluffs. Edgar also enjoyed square dancing and gardening. He was a volunteer at Jennie Edmundson Hospital Auxiliary, where he was awarded The United Way Outstanding Volunteer Award. He is preceded in death by his wife, Hazel; parents, John and Sarah; his siblings, Sylvester, Bill and Aileen; and his grandsons, Timothy Clark and Bradley Walling. Those left to mourn include his children and stepchildren, Glen (Connie) Walling, Janice Walling Clark (Rev. Michael), Beverly (Dennis) Presnall, Beth (Thomas) Lewis; eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
