Read More	Obit: Edsel Roy, son of Francis Calvin and Annie Isabel (Squires) Hapgood of Kingsley, Iowa, died at his farm home in Grand Meadow Twp., Cherokee Co., Iowa, Friday morning, October 10, 1930, after a lingering illness of many months. Mr. Hapgood was an old settler in Cherokee County. Edsel Roy Hapgood was born August 14, 1879, at Arlington, Fayette Co., Iowa. At the age of about 10 years he moved with his parents to his home in Grand Meadow which has been his home most of his life since. He received his education in the country school close by, later attending college at Highland Park, Des Moines and at Humboldt, Iowa. He was a farmer, following this occupation until his death. On April 5, 1905, he married Florence Sylveen Lease, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N.M. Lease of Pierson, Iowa. To them were born three children, Gladys Helene Hapgood Miller, Merlene who died in infancy, and Berniece Isabel. Survivors include his wife, Florence, two daughters, Berniece Isabel at home and Mrs. Gladys Hapgood Miller, three grandchildren, Donna June, the twins, Gwendolyn and Jacqueline. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. G.R. Gilbert, pastor of the Pierson M.E. church. Services at the grave in Grand Meadow Cemetery were in charge of Rutland Lodge #607, AM&FM. Funeral arrangements were in charge of Osborn Brothers of Pierson.
