Description	:	Elmer Levi Throne, son of Conrad Throne and Christiana Finkenbinder Throne, was born Feb. 13, 1870 near Carlisle, Pa. and departed this earthly life at his home in Chester, Sept. 10, 1955, following a lingering illness extending over several years. Read More	Elmer Levi Throne, son of Conrad Throne and Christiana Finkenbinder Throne, was born Feb. 13, 1870 near Carlisle, Pa. and departed this earthly life at his home in Chester, Sept. 10, 1955, following a lingering illness extending over several years. His age at death was 85 years, 6 months and 28 days. Mr. Throne's childhood and early manhood was spent at his parental home in Pennsylvania where he attended the local public schools. When he was 22 years old, in 1892, he came to Nebraska, locating in this community and this has been his home for the past 3 years. On March 18, 1896, at Chester, he was married to Della Dry. Into this home was born one daughter, now Mrs. Frieda Truss.. (sic) Mr. Throne united with the Chester Christian Church in 1897. That was 58 years ago, which makes him one of the oldest members of this church in point of years of membership. Through more than half a century, he has been most loyal to the church and most faithful to his commitment to Christ. He served as treasurer of this church for 49 years, only giving up that position when advancing years and failing health forced his retirement. For his long service as church treasurer, Mr. Throne received a citation from President Harry S. Truman. The quality of his life and the generosity of his service have brought credit and strength to the church through many years. For 32 years Mr. Throne was a member of Chester Lodge 298 A.F.& A.M. Mr. Throne was a farmer all his life. He liked the life and work of the farm. His whole life dignified labor. Through sixty-three years in this community, he gave himself to those fundamental institutions of farm and home, church and school, upon which the welfare and prosperity and happiness of every community depends. During this time he has won for himself a large place in the life and respect of his neighbors, and among a wide circle of friends throughout this whole community. He leaves in deep bereavement his wife and daughter; son-in-law, Ray Truss; four grandchildren, Marilyn, Lorna, Linda and Delmer Truss, besides nieces and nephews. His parents and all his eight brothers and sisters have preceded him in death. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 2:30 p.m. at the Christian Church with Rev. George Randall officiating. Music was by a quartet, Miss Clara Kechely, Mrs. Wilbert Crouse, E.A. Moxham and K.L. Messman, accompanied by Mrs. Melvin Crouse. Pallbearers were Clay Davenport, Harley Sherwood, Elmer Mosier, Walter Mosier, John Sell and Will Crouse. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery.
