DIED ON MONDAY PASSED AWAY FOLLOWING AN EMERGENCY OPERATION AT ESTHERVILLE As a shock to Spirit Lake people, came the news Monday evening that Mrs. W. F. Wright, Jr., had passed away at the Coleman hospital at Estherville, following an operation of a few hours before in hopes of saving her life. Seldom is it our duty to record so sudden a death. While she had need for the attention of the family physician for a few days before, yet only the day before she was able to be about her home and no thought of an immediate emergency was realized. She had contracted uremic poisoning but not until Monday morning was her case known to be critical and immediately arrangements were made and she was taken to the Estherville hospital where an operation was performed. Following the operation Mr. Wright returned home, feeling she would recover, but no sooner had he reached home than he was called to return and she passed away late in the afternoon. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. N. R. Miles. Burial was made in Lakeview Cemetery. The funeral services were very largely attended, the members of the Masonic organizations attended in bodies. Emma Maude (Morey) Wright, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Morey, new of Montgomery, was born July 31, 1886, near Lee Center, in Lee County, Illinois, and passed away at the Coleman hospital in Estherville, Iowa, May 29, 1922, She was 35 years, 9 months and 30 days of age at the time of her death. She left Illinois with her parents when she was a child and has since resided almost continuously in the state of Iowa. On September 30, 1908, at Worthington, Minn., she was united in marriage to Willis Franklin Wright, Jr., of Spirit Lake. To whom were born four children, all of whom are living. They are Margaret, Darold, Maurice and Donna Beryl. She leaves to mourn her death besides her immediate family, her parents, three sisters and one brother, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Morey, Mrs. Mabel Martinson, Miss Mollie Morey and Edgar Morey, all of Montgomery, and Mrs. Bessie Pagel of Minneapolis, Minn. She also leaves a large number of friends and acquaintances, who mourn her passing. Mrs. Wright was a member of the Presbyterian church, Eastern Star and of the Service Star Legion. All of the members of her family were present at the funeral with the exception of her brother Edgar who is suffering with an attack of Pneumonia at this time. Mrs. Wright was a dear, good mother, wife, daughter and sister. She always placed herself in the background for her family and friends. She always had a good word, a friendly greeting and kindly thoughts for all. Hers was a life of the Golden Rule and the sympathies of the community at large are extended to the bereaved family and especially to the children bereft of a mother so early in life. *The Spirit Lake Beacon, June 1, 1922 -------------------
