Grummert, a resident of Nuckolls County since 1893, occurred at his home in Superior, Nebraska, early Sunday morning, August 12, 1945 He was 81 years, 7 months and 29 days of age. Ernest Henry Grummert was born in Holzhausen, Kreis Liebbeke, Westfahila, Germany, on December 13, 1863. In early infancy he was received into the Christian Church by Holy Baptism and in the year 1878 he was received into communicant membership of the Lutheran Church by the rite of confirmation He came to America with his parents in 1881 and in April of that year settled near Fairbury in Jefferson County, Nebraska. On February 27, 1887, he was united in marriage with Lena Sophia Buesig. They continued living in Jefferson County until March, 1893, when they moved to Nuckolls County and settled near Smyrna, from where they moved to Superior in 1922. Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Grummert: Mrs. Ernest (Anna) Schiermeyer, Mrs. W. H. F. (Minnie) Schiermeyer, Mrs. W. J. (Martha) Schiermeyer, Mrs. Fred (Elsie) Schiermeyer, and sons, Frederick and John Grummert all of Superior, Nebraska; Ernest of Edgar, Nebraska, and Herman of Webber, Kansas. One son died in infancy. The deceased was preceded in death by his faithful wife on June 21, 1943. His departure from this earth is mourned by one brother, two sisters, four sons, five daughters, 40 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Zulauf-Denny Funeral Home Tuesday, August 14, conducted by Rev. J. Alvin Rueter of the American Lutheran Church at Superior.
