Description	:	Lena Sharlotte Schiermeyer, one of ten children of Ernest and Lena Buesig Grummert, was born July 19, 1898, on a farm near Superior. She passed away May 1, 1980, at Superior Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 12 days. She grew up on a farm near Superior and attended Fairview School. Read More	Lena Sharlotte Schiermeyer, one of ten children of Ernest and Lena Buesig Grummert, was born July 19, 1898, on a farm near Superior. In 1932, Lena moved to Yuma, Colorado, living there until 1934, when moving to Bird City, Kansas, until 1938. She has spent many years living in Nelson. September 8, 1932, Lena was united in marriage to Herman Fred Schiermeyer at Salem Lutheran Church. To this union two children were born. Lena was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Salem Lutheran Circle I and V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Herman, who died October 20, 1973; one son, Leroy; two brothers, Herman and Henry, who died as as an infant; two sisters, Elsie Schiermeyer and Minnie Schiermeyer. Survivors include her daughter, Lena Schiermeyer of Burke, Virginia; three brothers, Ernest Grummert of Cana___, Fred Grummert of Superior and John Grummert of Hastings;; two sisters, Anna Schiermeyer and Mary Schiermeyer, both of Superior. Funeral services were held Monday, May 5, at 2 p.m. from the Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor John Sorenson officiating. Burial was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery. Klawitter Funeral Home of Nelson was in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Ken Schiermeyer, Glen Schiermeyer, Eldrick Grummert, Orville Grummert, Vernon Grummert and Milvern Grummert.
