Interment was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery. The Megrue Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Grummert has been a long time resident of the Nelson, Superior area and passed away at the Good Samaritan Home in Nelson June 5. He is survived by his wife, Anna, 3 daughters and 7 sons. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, June 12, 1969 ------------------------------------------- Herman Fredrick Grummert, son of Ernest and Lena Busig Grummert, was born April 27, 1896, near Superior, Nebraska, in the Smyrna area. He was baptized May 5, 1896. On October 23, 1910 he was confirmed in Salem Lutheran Church north of Superior. On February 3, 1926, in the same church, he was united in marriage with Anna Aden. To this union, three daughters and eight sons were born. He lived his entire life in the Superior area, farming near Smyrna following his marriage. In 1943 the family moved to Webber, Kansas returning to farm east of Superior in 1945. In 1961 he retired, making his home at 654 East 5th Streets. Last month, following hospitalization in Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, it became necessary for him to enter the Good Samaritan Home at Nelson, Nebraska. There, on June 5, he departed this life at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 9 days. He was preceeded in death by one son, Ivan, who died in infancy; by his parents; by one brother, Henry; and by one sister, Mrs. Elsie Schiermeyer, who died October 5, 1955. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Anna; three daughters, Alvina (Mrs. Earl Newell) of Hardy, Nebraska; Clara (Mrs. Richard Mahieu) of Harvard, Nebraska; and Pauline (Mrs. Ray Dorman) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; seven sons, Allen of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Albert serving with the Army in Germany; Lloyd of Englewood, Colorado; Larry of Hastings, Nebraska; Everett of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Harold and Leonard, both of Hastings, Nebraska; four sisters, Anna (Mrs. Ernest Schiermeyer) of Superior, Nebraska; Lena (Mrs. Herman Schiermeyer) of Nelson, Nebraska; and Martha (Mrs. W.J. Schiermeyer) of Superior, Nebraska; three brothers, Ernest of Toronto, Canada; Fred of Superior, Nebraska; and John of Superior, Nebraska; 29 grandchildren, and one great grandson; and many other relatives and friends. Memorial services were held Monday, June 9, 1969 at 2:00 p.m. at thh (sic) Centennial Lutheran Church at Superior, Nebraska. The Rev. Robert J. Leege officiated. Casket Bearers were: John Schiermeyer, Glen Schiermeyer, Robert Schiermeyer, Eldrick Grummert, Orville Grummert and Milvern Grummert. Interment was in the Salem Lutheran Church.
