Mrs. Waterman was born August 12, 1910 in Union County, South Dakota, the daughter of Peter William and Emma Matilda (Hultgren) Ericson. She attended the Hoyt and graduated in 1927 from Akron High School. She attended Augustana College of Rock Island, Ill. for one year, and summer and night classes at the University of South Dakota. She taught at the Koch and Searls schools in Iowa, Cole school in Alcester, S.D. for one year, West Union for three years, Pleasant Valley for six years and Westfield. Iowa for two years, retiring in 1970. She married R. Wayne Waterman June 23, 1934 at Union Creek Lutheran Church. She resided in Akron, Sioux City and Hawarden, Iowa, wintering at the Mondak Park in Mesa, AZ since 1970. She enjoyed painting, playing cards, directing the kitchen band and men's chorus for 18 years. She was piano accompanist and directed the church choir for many years. She was a member of Union Creek Lutheran church, LCW, and Akron Golf Club. She is survived by her husband; one son and his wife, Warren and Marge of Grand Island, NY; two daughters and their husbands, Carole and Jon Heider and Linda and Ron Wayman, all of Sioux City; three grandsons, Brad, Guy, Rob; three granddaughters, Jennifer, Courtney. Andrea; one greatgranddaughter, Amanda; one great-grandson, Kelbey; one sister, Miriam Enockson of Sioux City; two sisters-in-law. Margaret Ericson of Mesa, AZ; and Hed Waterman of Kingsley; one brother-in-law, Art Claeys of Sioux City. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lawrence and Milton Ericson; and one sister. Wilma Claeys.
