Burial followed in Grand Meadow Cemetery under direction of Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee. Mr. Deming died at a Sioux City hospital, after a week's illness. He was born April 12, 1886, in Cherokee county and married Lelia Keck on February 12, 1913, near here. They farmed in the area until 1945, and moved to Washta in 1957. Survivors include the widow, two sisters, Mrs. Will England of Washta and Mrs. Tena Nafe of Pierson; and three brothers, Lawrence and Frank both of Sioux City and Clifford of Washta. The Cherokee Courier, 3 March 1966, page 2: Floyd Walter Deming, 79, died Saturday at 1 p. m. in Sioux City after an illness of one week. He had lived in Washta since 1957. Prior to that time he farmed in Grand Meadow Township. He was born in Grand Meadow Township on April 12, 1886. He was married to Lelia Keck on February 12, 1913. For many years he was custodian of the Trinity Lutheran Church and school in Grand Meadow. He was a member of the Washta Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Lelia; two sisters, Mrs. Will England of Washta, and Mrs. Tena Nafe of Pierson; three brothers, Frank and Lawrence of Sioux City and Clifford of Washta. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p. m. from the Washta Methodist Church with Rev. Harlan Faris officiating. Burial was in the Grand Meadow Cemetery with Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee in charge of arrangements.
