Cummings, prominent and active farmer, died in his home in Fox Twp., Saturday morning, September 29. Born January 3, 1859, at Steubenville, Mr. Cummings passed the major part of his life near Mechanicstown, devoting his time to farming and stock raising. He was married February 9, 1881 to Melinda J. Ray, who survives with the following children; Emmet C. Cummings and Mrs. Lawrence Toalston of Washington Twp., Mrs. M. C. Marshall of Fox Twp; Mrs. Dunwood Neibold of Carrollton; Foster B. Cummings of Youngstown and Harry Cummings of Mechanicstown; also 17 grandchildren. Two sons are deceased, George V., who died February, 1925 in the Akron City Hospital, and Elmer E., who died December, 1917, in Canton Mercy Hospital, in Canton. Mr. Cummings was a member of the church of Christ at Mt. Olivet, at which place services were held October 11 with Rev. Stanley Johnson officiating. A large company of relatives and friends was in attendance. Mr. Cumming's on-in-law M. C. Marshall, who is a Democrat, served as auditor of Carroll County, being one of the Democrats to be elected in this Republican stronghold.
