His home was at 140 East Alta Vista Avenue. Death came at Ottumwa Hospital. Mr. Dimmitt retired as assistant cashier of the Union Bank and Trust Co. In 1948. He was a charter member of the First Methodist Church. He was married in 1899 to Bertha McCartney, who preceded him in death in 1950. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Bertha Mae Kelly of Ottumwa; a son, the Rev. George F. Dimmitt of Des Moines, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Jay Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul M. Hann, D.D. pastor of the First Methodist Church, will be in charge. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery. The family announced establishment of a memorial fund in Mr. Dimmitt's name, payable to the First Methodist Church.
