Description	:	Gary Niederauer, 66, of Miller, S.D., died Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at his home. Interment was at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Miller, under the direction of Reck Funeral Home of Miller. Gary Dean Niederauer was born August 7, 1939 in Aberdeen, S.D., to George and Bernita (Rombough) Niederauer. He attended and graduated from Miller High School. Interment was at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Miller, under the direction of Reck Funeral Home of Miller. Gary Dean Niederauer was born August 7, 1939 in Aberdeen, S.D., to George and Bernita (Rombough) Niederauer. He attended and graduated from Miller High School. Following school, Gary enlisted in the United States Army. During his enlistment, he was stationed at West Point, N.Y. Upon returning to Miller, he worked construction with his father. On April 4, 1969, Gary was united in marriage to Joan Schneider. They made their home in Miller where Gary worked as a Standard Oil jobber. Together, he and Joan started the Conoco C-Store. During the last few years, he was employed in the maintenance department with the Miller School District. Gary's interests included vacationing in the southern Colorado Hills, his John Wayne movie collection, Legos, puzzles, playing dominoes for hours, 1960s T-Bird cars and especially trains. He also enjoyed his time serving as a City Council member. Left to cherish Gary's life are his wife, Joan Niederauer of Miller; a daughter, Kari (Cyril Paul) Mergens of Becker, Minn.; a sister, Marie "Tootie" (Wayne) Manning of Gillette, Wyo.; four brothers, George "Fred" (Rose) of Durango, Colo., James of Hackettstown, N.J., John (Chris) of Miller and Alan (Judy) of Denver, Colo.; his special dog, Lady; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his maternal and paternal grandparents; an infant brother, Charles Duane; and an infant sister, Mary Margaret. The Miller Press 6/20/2006
