Description	:	George M. Rath, son of Michael Rath of Evansport, died this morning of consumption at the home of his sister, Mrs. Mary Huffman of Washington Township. The deceased was about 39 years of age. He served in Company M, of the Spanish-American war. He was recent Tiffin Township and is well known throughout the county. The deceased was never married. He served in Company M, of the Spanish-American war. He was recent Tiffin Township and is well known throughout the county. The deceased was never married. He was a cousin of W. I. Rath of the city. -The Defiance Crescent News, August 11, 1903. The funeral of George M. Rath, held in Evansport yesterday was largely attended. The short service was held at 9:30 at the house. At 10:30, Rev. Wilson conducted services at the M. E. Church. The Spanish-American soldiers, with whom the deceased with a comrade in Company M, had charge of the funeral. The pallbearers were selected from the organization and were: Carl Schmick, John Mederhouser, Charles White, Fred Bartels, Christ krabach and Charles Mann. A firing squad composed of J. M. Weismantle in charge, Max Hoover and Will Robinson fired salutes at the grave, giving her departed, and military burial. The soldiers gave a beautiful floral design in the shape of gates ajar.
