He maintained the roads in his area, too. ..After moving to a home in Red Cloud in 1966, he continued to stay active by working at the Red Cloud Sale Barn and at the Ely Grain Elevator. ..On Dec. 16, 1981, George passed away at the Webster county Community Hospital in Red Cloud at the age of 74 years, 8 months and 20 days. ..He is survived by his wife Berniece; 5 sons, Paul Edward and wife Ruth of Lebanon, Kansas; Robert of Red Cloud; Lloyd and wife Mary Ann of Hastings, Neb.; Darrel and wife Donna of Inland; Don and wife Barbara of Nelson; two daughters, Mary Jane Reibold and husband Wilbur of Dacono, Colo; and Linda Biltoft and husband John of Nora, Neb. Also two sisters, Mrs. George (Beulah) Stones of Lebanon, Kans., and Mrs. Clarence (Ethel) Blomenkamp of Hastings, Neb., two brothers, Paul G. and Elmer, both of Red Cloud, Neb., 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews and other relatives. ..George was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Ralph; and one granddaughter, Jo Ann McCartney. ..All who knew George will miss him. His family will always have fond memories of many family events. His friends and neighbors will remember his willingness to do more than his share whether working for the community or helping others. ..Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, 1981, from the United Methodist Church in Red Cloud with the Rev. M. Manick Samuel officiating. Janice Webber and Verlene Stringer sang "In the Garden" and "In The Sweet Bye and Bye," accompanied by Mrs. Betty Rassery organist. ..The pallbearers were Edd McCartney, Mike McCartney, David McCartney, Jim McCartney, Randall McCartney and Tom Biltoft. ..Interment was in the Mt.
