Services for Harm Dirks, 53, who took his life on his farm near Langworthy Saturday morning, were conducted by the Rev. F.H. Kehren in Wayne Zion Lutheran church Monday afternoon. The body was found hanging from a rafter in the hog house early Saturday by a son, Alvin, who had gone to look for his father when he didn't return from chores. Having lost his farm through foreclosure - Harm was despondent, which fact prompted his action. He hadn't slept well during the night and shortly before dawn had prepared something to eat which he shared with his wife, who is ill. Mr. Dirks had spent all of his life in Wayne township and married Kate Zimmerman in 1907. He was the son of Dietrich Dirks and Margaret Bodeker Dirks. Surviving are Mrs. Dirks and five children, Herman Dirks of Monticello, Mrs. Herman Tapken of Cass Center and Lizzie, Ed, and Alvin, at home. Also surviving are his father, four sisters, Mrs. Gerd Dirks of Langworthy, Mrs. Will Dirks of amber, Mrs. Mino Zimmerman of Olin and Mrs. Will Oltmann of Anamosa; three brothers, Gerd Dirks, John Dirks and Henry Dirks, all of Amber. * * * * * *
