Glen Clifford Kaldahl was born to Haaken and Hazel (Hunt) Kaldahl in Blooming Valley Township, Divide County on March 31, 1926. He attended a rural school in Blooming Valley Township. Read More	Glen Kaldahl, 85, of Ray, North Dakota, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Tioga Medical Center in Tioga, ND. Glen Clifford Kaldahl was born to Haaken and Hazel (Hunt) Kaldahl in Blooming Valley Township, Divide County on March 31, 1926. He attended a rural school in Blooming Valley Township. He entered the U.S. Navy in World War II. He served in the U. S. Navy in the Asia Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Thuban. He received World War Victory Medal, Asia Pacific Ribbon One Star. He was among the first Navy men to dock at Hiroshima, Japan after the Atomic Bomb. After honorable discharge, he worked as a trucker hauling logs in Oregon. Glen then moved to Ray, where he worked for area farmers and on the oil rigs for many years. Glen was part of the crew that worked on the Iverson Discovery Well. Later he worked for Jacobson Construction on elevators. During his life, Glen worked at Simpson Implement as a mechanic, managed Victoria Elevator and Westland Oil in Ray. He was half owner of the Hardware Store in Ray for a time. Glen also enjoyed using his Caterpillars and scraper to bury rock piles and make waterways, drain sloughs and dig dams for area farmers. Glen married Alice (Boline) August 12, 1953 in Ray, ND. He bought his dad's farm 1 ½ miles northeast of Ray, beginning his farming career while working in the oilfield and doing elevator construction. Glen was also a self-taught carpenter and enjoyed working with wood. He retired from farming because of ill health and entered Eastern Montana Veteran's home in Glendive, MT. He later entered the Villa Maria Nursing home in Fargo. Glen was able to move closer to home and spent the last few months of his life at the Tioga Medical Center. Glen was a member of Ray Lutheran Church, Ray American Legion # 9, Veteran of Foreign Wars of Zahl and Ray Senior Citizens. Glen is survived by his wife, Alice of Ray, ND; three children, Robert Kaldahl, of Williston, ND, Marilyn (Norman) Hodnefield and Donald (Barb) Kaldahl both of Ray, ND; five grandchildren, Shanon (Monica) Hodnefield of Williston, ND, Tom (Becky) Hodnefield of Fargo,ND, Heather (Ed) Jones of Indianapolis, IN, Misty (Gary) Donnelly of Ray, and Kristle (Sam) Sagaser of Tioga, ND. He also had eight great-grandchildren. Glen was the 6th of 15 children. His only surviving sibling is his sister, Sylvia Tancre of Kalispell, MT. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Haaken and Hazel; and his siblings, Robert, Lucille, Ruth, Jean, Olaf, Earl, Helen, Dale, Clinton, Arthur, Gale, Gerald and Sylvia Helen, who died as an infant.
