Read More	Well Known Man Buried Wednesday Many Friends Were Present At Funeral Held Wednesday One of Crisfield's most prominent seafood dealers and outstanding citizens, Gordon E. Milbourne, died at his home in Asbury early Sunday evening. He had passed his 73rd birthday. A week previous to his death Mr. Milbourne had suffered a paralytic stroke, and his condition gradually grew worse until the end came. He was born in the Calvary section, the son of the late Littleton and Margaret Beauchamp Milbourne, and he has lived here all his life. As a young men he entered the seafood business as a packer of soft shell crabs and oysters, and a processor of crab meat. By his energy and fair business dealings he built his concern, the Milbourne Oyster Company, into one of the leading seafood wholesalers on the east coast and the concern for some years has had a branch near Stockton, Md. He was president of his seafood company and also a vice president of the Packers Ice & Cold Storage Company here. He served two terms as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates while the late Albert C. Ritchie was Governor of Maryland. A staunch Democrat, for years he was influential in the party and frequently consulted on party politics. Mr. Milbourne was semething of an artist in his love of beauty. A wide variety of very beautiful flowers was grown at his home in Asbury, which was one of the beauty spots of the community. He also was an energetic church worker, having been a member of Asbury Methodist Church for many years, and devoting much of his time to forwarding the work of the church. He seldom missed a service there. As a citizen Mr. Milbourne had the esteem and regard of everyone. He was progressive, intelligent, and a man whose word was his bond. He often had been pointed out as a leading citizen of the county whose activities were well worth emulating. There was affection and deep regret in the hearts of hundreds of people who had been blessed with his friendship and helped by him in many ways. He rested at his home until Wednesday afternoon and hundreds of persons called to pay their respects. Funeral services were held in Asbury Methodist Church at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, and there hundreds came to listen to the last words said about their relative and friend. There were many, many lovely floral pieces banked in front of the casket. Interment was in Asbury cemetery. Bearers were Oscar Christy, Joseph H. Pinto, Archie Sterling, Warren F. Sterling, Charles W. Goldsborough, Emery Nelson, Asa Crockett and Travis Thomas. Honorary bearers were members of the Men's Bible Class of the church. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Addie Sterling Milbourne and four children, Miss Ruth Milbourne, Mrs. Naomi Howard, Mrs. William B. Maddox, Jr., and Morris L. Milbourne, all of Crisfield, two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Moore and Mrs. Willie Sterling, and two brothers, Herbert Milbourne and L. Jerome Milbourne all of Crisfield.
