Description	:	California Democrat, California MO Aug 1954 Grant Thompson, 68, brother of John Thompson, died Friday morning at Tipton, where he had lived since last fall. He had been suffering with a heart ailment. His body was brought to the Bowlin Funeral home in California where funeral services were held Sunday afternoon. He was buried in the Flag Spring Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev Jacg Hood, California and Rev Elwood G Kelly, Tipton, officiating. Serving as flower girls were Mrs Jim Bass, Mrs Pat Lalla, Mrs Arthur Henderson, Mrs Bill Dawson, Misses Betsey Burlingame, Ruby and Emma Reed, Barbara Presson, Colleen Fry and Mary Brant. Casketbearers were nephews, Huey and J B Thompson, Junior Rugen, Freddie Moon, Clayton Miller and Jim Bass. Mr and Mrs Thompson and their family moved to Tipton from Clarksburg last fall. Mr Thompson mined for a time in Oklahoma and later was in the blacksmith business at Russellville, Latham and Clarksburg. He was born March 10, 1886, son the the late Jacob B and Lydia Ann Thompson. He married Pearle Cunningham who died in 1932. Later he married Mrs Kate Rodekohr who survives. Others surviving are two children from the first marriage, Mrs Esther Allee, Enon, and Jack Thompson, Kansas City; four children from the second marriage, Maxine, Mary Ann and Arthur Jacob, all of the home, and Paul Thompson with the US Army in Germany; two stepchildren, Miss Anna Marie Hughes of the home, and Oliver Hughes, Kansas City; two sisters Mrs Walter Lane, Olean, and Mrs Harvey Richardson, Tipton; a brother, John Thompson, California, and a half-brother Will Thompson, Commerce, Okla. One daughter Maggie died in infancy.
