She would have been 80 years of age had she lived until June. The deceased, whose maiden name was Hannah Sawvel, was born in Harrison county, Ohio. She was united in marriage with Mr. Dubes Jan. 8, 1852. The family came to Cherokee county in 1870. Mrs. Dubes was the mother of seven children, five of whom survive her. The funeral will take place this afternoon. The Semi-Weekly Democrat - Thursday, April 20th, 1907 - Hannah Sawvel was born in Harrison county, Ohio, May 24, 1827, where she lived until her marriage to Elias Dubes, Jan. 8, 1852. In 1854 Mr. and Mrs. Dubes came to Allamakee county, Iowa, where they resided until 1870, when they removed to Cherokee county and settled in Silver township. To them were born seven children, three of whom preceded her to the world beyond. In 1856 she was converted to God and united with the Baptists in church fellowship, remaining a falthful and consistent member until the day of her death, which occurred April 13, 1907. Her devoted husband, her fond children, several admiring grandchildren and a large circle of warm friends mourn the loss of one so faithful and so true as she. Hers was a noble life. In christian character she was strong and positive. She applied herself to life's duties with untiring devotion. All who knew her can say that her work has been well done. Through all the vicissitudes of life she was possessed with a meek and quiet spirit which in the sight of God is of great price. The funeral services were held at the Mt. Olive Baptist church April 15, at 2 p.m., conducted by the pastor, Rev. E.H. Gillett. Text: John 14:2-3. Interment was had at Good Hope cemetery.
