King Sr., 79, Topeka, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at his home. Mr. King was a switchman for the Rock Island Railroad for 31 years before he retired in June 1986. He and his wife also owned King's Collectibles in Topeka from 1986 to 1998. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was born June 29, 1921, in Raytown, Mo., the son of Oliver P. and Bessie Liles King. Mr. King was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and a former member of several bowling leagues. He married Frances M. Grace on Oct. 20, 1946, in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Harvey G. King Jr., Eskridge, Richard W. King, Overbrook, and David R. King, Topeka; four daughters, Alice M. Thompson, Overland Park, and Marcia L. Rhoads, Marilyn G. Lively and Nancy J. Rolin, all of Topeka; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial with military honors conducted by Philip Billard Post No. 1650 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. King will lie in state after 2 p.m. Friday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a parish rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care Inc., 200 S.W.
