Lewman, youngest son of Perry and Caroline Lewman, was born Oct. 26, 1872 at Flemingsburg, Kentucky and died at his home in Sabetha, Feb. 17 at the age of 83 years, three months and 21 days. Mr. Lewman was converted in his early youth and joined the Christian Church of his home town, later transferring his membership to the Church of the Nazarene at Goff. Through the years he was a kind, compassionate and dutiful husband and father, being greatly revered by his companion children. He always maintained a consistent Christian experience that made his life an inspiration to all who knew him and his cheerful, radiant disposition was a constant blessing even through his long illness. His spirit of kindness and helpfulness endeared him to his many neighbors and friends. He was united in marriage to Ethel Brammer on Sept. 5, 1900 at Flemingsburg, Kentucky. In March 1901 they moved to Kansas and spent all their married life in the vicinity of Wetmore, Woodlawn and Sabetha. To this union were born five children, all of whom survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and a half-brother. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Ethel of the home, two daughters, Cora Lancaster and Alice Spiker of Sabetha; three sons, Wilson of Cloverdale, Calif., Paul of Scotts, Mich., and Leroy of Topeka, 19 grandchildren, nephews and nieces, beside many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o’clock at the Woodlawn Pilgrim Holiness Church conducted by the Rev. B. F. Ireland. Interment was in the Woodlawn cemetery. Casket bearers were Ernest McClain, A. L. Thompson, Richard Thompson, Carl Kirk, Gale King and Floyd Althouse. Contributor: Laura (47617185)
