ALFRED ROGERS Hester Williams, daughter of George and Blanche Williams, was born in Topeka, August 14, 1879. Her family later moved to Alabama where her mother died when she was a child. The family later returned to Topeka. When Hester was nine years old, Miss Kate Hubbard of Glasco took her into her home, and was a true, devoted mother to her, as long as she lived. Miss Hubbard passed away at her California home about fifteen years ago. Hester united with the Christian church and received a good education in the Glasco schools, and culture and integrity from the Christian home in which she was raised. She was united in marriage to Alfred Rogers Dec. 24, 1897, and they made their home in or near Glasco the entire forty-six years of their married life. Here they reared a family of three fine children: Katherine, now Mrs. Ray Pilcher; Rachael, now Mrs. Carl Pritchett, who with their families live in Glasco. Their son Herman enlisted as a Seabee, to defend our country, and has been stationed in the Aleutians since August, so is unable to be here now. Besides their own three children, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers made a home for her motherless little niece, Alice Williams, for several years, and their granddaughter, Beth Noel Pritchett, was one of the family for six years. Mrs. Rogers never ceased to grieve over the passing of this beloved granddaughter, June 26, 1942. She was especially fond of children and young people, and her greatest joy was her remaining grandchildren, Maxine Pilcher, Betty Pilcher Bennett, Maryjo, Virginia Rae, Davy, and James Henry Pritchett, Sally Sue Rogers, and a great grandson, Terry Lee Bennett. Mrs. Rogers was a great lover of home and flowers, and very seldom any of her many friends left her home empty handed. The last ten years of her life have been quite miserable, she having to spend much time in the hospital, and her end came very gently Wednesday evening, Feb. 2, 1944, at home with her husband. Funeral services were held at the home on Friday, Feb. 4, 1944, at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. R.R. Braddick, pastor of the Glasco Methodist church, officiating. Interment was made in the Glasco cemetery. The music for the service was furnished by high school girls, who were friends of Beth Pritchett, Mrs. Rogers' beloved granddaughter.
