Description	:	Howard (Doc) McCollister Howard Dwight (Doc) McCollister, 926 Jefferson av., a former home building contractor and brick mason here for many years, died suddenly Saturday at about 3 p.m. while cutting up a tree at the property, 864 Jefferson av., which he owned. A heart attack was given as the cause of his death. Mr. McCollister had been doctoring for a heart condition for the last 15 years. He was 61 years old. The body is at the Smith Brothers Rupp funeral home where it will remain until Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. when it will be taken to St. John's Lutheran church to lie... When rites start at 2:30 o'clock the casket will be closed. Rev. O. G. Hebestren, the pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Riverside cemetery. Friends were asked to omit sending flowers but give instead either to polio or Lutheran Hour funds. Mr. McCollister was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Men's Club of the church, and previously was secretary for many years of the United Masons and Plasterers Union. He also at one time was a sinking fund trustee of the city of Defiance. He leaves only his wife, the former Wilhelmina Duerk, to whom he was married Jan. 16, 1913. Their only child, Howard Dwight died in infancy. Mr. McCollister, a son of the late Charles and Mary (Brown) McCollister was born in Defiance tp. on March 13, 1891. He lived there until his marriage in 1913 after which he resided in Defiance. He was a home building contractor here for a number of years.
