Description	:	Inez May McElvain, 85 years of Kearney, Nebraska (formerly of Holdrege) passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney. Inez was born on April 15, 1925 at Holdrege, the second of seven children born to Arthur Garfield and Judith Adina (Carlson) Englund. Inez was confirmed in her youth at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in 1940 by the Reverend Hugo Rodine. Read More	Inez May McElvain, 85 years of Kearney, Nebraska (formerly of Holdrege) passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney. Inez was born on April 15, 1925 at Holdrege, the second of seven children born to Arthur Garfield and Judith Adina (Carlson) Englund. Inez was confirmed in her youth at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in 1940 by the Reverend Hugo Rodine. She received her primary education from District #25 in Phelps County and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1942. Prior to her marriage, Inez was employed by JC Penney's for a year and a half. On February 6, 1949, Inez was united in marriage to Robert Thomas "Bob" McElvain and to this union two daughters were born: Phyllis and Nancy. The family then attended the Moses Hill Church, where Inez was baptized by Pastor Dolan Rundquist and they later attended the Emmaus Evangelical Free Church north of Funk, Nebraska. Bob and Inez made their home north of Holdrege, where they engaged in farming until their retirement in 1983. On February 13, 2005, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob. Inez had a special passion for genealogy, and was always interested in working on the family tree. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nick and Tresa McElvain, one brother, LaVern Englund and one brother-in-law, Cecil Stephenson. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughters: Phyllis Tiedje and her husband, John of Ord, Nebraska, and Nancy Loeffel and her husband, James of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren: Andrew Tiedje of Lincoln, Josie Stauffer and her husband, Seth of Lincoln, Cody Tiedje of Holdrege, Timothy Loeffel of Lincoln, and Brian Tiedje of Ord; great-granddaughter, Cassandra Tiedje; brothers: LaMont Englund and his wife, Jean of Holdrege, Paul Englund and his wife, Shirley of Holdrege, Dale Englund and his wife, Donna of San Jose, California, James Englund and his wife, Edna of Holdrege; sister, Grace Petersen and her husband, Donald of Holdrege; brother-in-law, Bill McElvain and his wife, Carolyn of Kearney; sisters-in-law: Margaret Dyer and her husband, Daryl of Grinnell, Iowa, Mary L. Stephenson Pearson and her husband, Roy of Holdrege, Nebraska, LaDonna Weismann and her husband, Max of Holdrege; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
