Read More	Glasco Sun, Nov. 25, 1943, page 3: Iola Pearl Pilcher, daughter of John William and Dorothy Anne Pilcher, was born near Streator, Ill., December 4, 1876. While yet a small child, the family moved to Kansas on a farm five miles east of Glasco, where she grew to womanhood. In her young girlhood she joined the Bethel Methodist Episcopal church. After moving to Glasco in 1908 she transferred her membership to the Glasco church. She departed this life Friday, November 19, 1943, closing a beautiful Christian life. She loved her church --- was always keenly interested and took an active part in all of its activities. She was especially interested in the musical phase of religion. It was a familiar sight to see her sing hymn after hymn without the use of a hymn book. She, truly, could have been called a singing Christian. Her interests were not confined to her own church, but reached out to all Christian activities. She took an active part in all missionary work of church. She was a charter member of the Women's Society of Christian Service and was superintendent of the Cradle Roll of the Bible School for several years. One of her keen interests was the work of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. At the time of her death she was treasurer of the Cloud County organization. The community will feel keenly the loss of this fine Christian woman, who has always been an example of upright living -- whose motive thru her entire life was friendliness toward all with whom she came in contact. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, one brother, Purd, and one sister, Gertrude. She leaves to mourn her death, two brothers, Walter and Will; an aunt, Mrs. Belle Palmer, and an uncle, G.W. Newman, both of Indianapolis, Ind., besides many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held in the Glasco Methodist church on Sunday, November 21, at 3:00 p.m., her pastor, Rev. R.R. Braddick, officiating. Music was furnished by a ladies' quartet composed of Mrs. Ward King, Mrs. Fred Harper, Mrs. Howe Jordan, and Mrs. O.L. Norton, accompanied by Mrs. E.V. Plush. Interment was made in the Glasco cemetery.
