She was born Aug. 26, 1914, in Independence, the daughter of Arthur and Catherine Schilling Weaver. She married Edward A. Purves on Feb. 15, 1936, in Topeka. He died Feb. 20, 1987. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia K. Spencer, Topeka; a sister, Evelyn Coleman, Topeka; and a grandson. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Purves will lie in state after 2 p.m. Monday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, where a Daughters of Isabella Circle No. 503 rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. and a parish prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice or to the Sacred Heart League and sent in care of the funeral home.
