Description	:	JACOB ELLSWORTH, AN OLD RESIDENT, DIES Jacob Ellsworth, a pioneer resident of the Modena neighborhood, died Monday night at his home at the age of 86 years. Mrs. Ellsworth having died several years ago, he made his home with his daughter, Miss Stella Ellsworth. He had been ill the past three weeks, flue, followed by a complication of diseases, was the cause of death. The funeral was held today at the home. Interment was in the Chestnut Cemetery. (Princeton Post-Telegraph, Feb 13, 1929)(lt) OBITUARY - JACOB ELLSWORTH Jacob Ellsworth was born in Madison County, Indiana, October 6, 1842 and came to Missouri at the age of 10 years. He departed this life Feb 11, 1929, being 86 years, 4 months and 5 days of age. In 1862 he was united in marriage to Susan Jane Vanderpool, who preceded him in death ten years ago. To this union twelve children were born, eight of whom are still living: Wilson, of Blythedale, MO; Edward, of Galt, MO; Joseph, of Gilman City, MO; William H., of Lacona, Iowa; Mrs. Hester McQuerry, Mill Grove, MO; Mrs, Etta Loe, Mill Grove, MO; Mrs. Bessie Keuhn, of Pembina, ND; and Miss Stella Ellsworth of the home. He united with the M.P. Church about forty years ago and has lived a faithful Christian life, not fearing death, being ready and willing to go and bearing the suffering very patiently until the end. Funeral services were conducted at the home Feb 13 by Rev. Salee and the body was laid to rest in the Chestnut Cemetery. (Princeton Post-Telegraph, Feb 20, 1929) (lt) Note: Jacob served the Union during the Civil War in the Missouri State Militia during 1862-63, doing guard duty on the Missouri River. It is unfortunate, that his unit, 7th Battalion Company H, was never mustered into the Regular Army and he was unable to draw a pension. (lt)
