He was born May 8, 1934, in Council Bluffs, to the late Roy Ted and Vera (Sales) Swanger. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and served his country in the U.S. Army. Swanger, age 77, of Council Bluffs, passed away August 11, 2011, at Midlands Living Center. He was born May 8, 1934, in Council Bluffs, to the late Roy Ted and Vera (Sales) Swanger. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and served his country in the U.S. Army. Jerry married Jeanne M. Kain in 1957. They were blessed with two daughters, Allison and Theresa. Swanger, in 2009; and a sister, Kathleen Kirk. He is survived by his daughters, Allison (George) Winther, of Crescent, Iowa, and Theresa (Travis) McCool, of Shelby, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and one on the way; brothers, Roger (Dee) Swanger, of Council Bluffs, and Robert (Clare) Swanger, in Arkansas; sisters, Shirley Croghan, of Denver, Colo., and Linda (Francis) Almond, in Michigan; many nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family, Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m., at the Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral Service, Monday, 11 a.m., at the mortuary with Pastor Bob Thompson of Church of Freedom officiating.
