Thomas, who succumbed to heart trouble caused by ravages of goitre with which she had been a sufferer for several years. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas recently moved to the Northrup property just south of town, coming from Gosper. The news of her death was a shock to her many friends, though it was known she could not much longer withstand the trouble. The funeral would be held from the Methodist Episcopal church in Arapahoe at 11 o'clock Friday morning, Reverend Staley officiating. An obituary would be published next week, as they were unable to procure dates for that issue. From the Arapahoe Public Mirror 8 March 1917 Mrs. E.R. Thomas Obituary Jerusha Stevenson was born 19 August 1865 in Elmore, Illinois and died in Arapahoe, Nebraska, 27 February 1917, being 52 years, 6 months, and 8 days old. She was married to Erastus R. Thomas on 22 August 1889 at Galesburg, Illinois. To this union were born ten children, of whom nine are living. Deceased was converted when quite young, living a Christian life until death. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and nine children; Lewis, Percy, Nina, Earl, Anna, Edythe, Irene, Ruth and Mary; one grandchild, five brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church at 11:00 am Friday forenoon, Rev. E.C. Staley officiating, with interment in the Arapahoe cemetery. Attending the funeral from out of town were; Mr. and Mrs. M.O. Collinson of Carthage, South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Thomas of Victoria, Illinois, Mr. Walter Major and Miss Edythe Major of Smithfield, Nebraska. A very large number of friends turned out to pay their last tribute of respect to the deceased and to give their sympathy and condolence to the bereaved family. Card of Thanks We take this means of expressing our sincere and heartfelt thanks to the many friends for their help and sympathy in the last sickness and death of our beloved wife and mother.
