One is Stephen William Powell, and one is Stephen Foley Powell. Stephen William Powell is the immigrant and he was eventually killed by the Indians who also massacred those in Jamestown. Many of our relatives were in that massacre as the Powell men were very prominent and active in life's affairs and Jamestown. Some who came over with Stephen William are definitely known to have been killed by the Indians. His life was cut off between 1623-1629, so what is told is likely true. **Stephen Foley Powell is our relative in the direct line to Charlemagne. People like to write his name as Stephen Powell Foley as well. It is a mistyping of the name. It is written in legal papers and genealogy books with the name as Stephen Foley Powell. He did not immigrate from England to America, and there are documents proving he lived his life fully in England where he is buried with his wife. But others are applying the immigration records of Stephen William Powell to Stephen Foley Powell and it is incorrect, and on down the line it will mess up the linage as well as cause heated debates. Stephen William Powell is the brother to Henry Powell Esquire who is the father of Stephen Foley Powell who lived a long fulfilled life in Wales and England.
31) Thomas Henry Powell Born: 25 • March 1584 • Milden, Suffolk, England Death: 5 • May 1622 • Barton Mills, Suffolk, England Burial: *Wife: Elizabeth Parsons Marriage: Born: 10 • September 1587 • Ipswich, Suffolk, England Death: 10 • September 1621 • Mildenhall, Suffolk, England Burial: Parents of
32) Capt. Thomas W. Powell (Captain and builder, owner of the Sea Venture, SeaVenture) Born: 1616 • Mildenhall, Forest Heath District, Suffolk, England Note: By age 6 Thomas was orphaned. Both parents died in England. Due to his father's health is likely why his father dropped Thomas off with a shoe cobbler to be his apprentice. But after being on the ships with his father he had grown to love being on the seas, and it called him back to it once he was older. Interesting how the cobbler trade has been in the family line as William Hon Powell was a cobbler who did quite well at the trade. It is said that William is the only child his parents had, and so far I have found no others, tho many add more children, but the dates are incorrect. They don't look at the christening dates properly, in particular the years, which come from church records. People's inaccurate trees on Ancestry are due to people who do not read the records thoroughly if at all past the name. Be aware of this. Read all documents thoroughly. Death: 3 • October 1681 • New Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut, USA Burial: Unknown, tho some like to say he is buried in England, but I doubt that. It was a costly and difficult task to carry a dead body on a ship across the ocean, not to mention smelly and prone to spreading disease. I can't see it occurring. Sailors are superstitious and I can't see them having a dead body on board for weeks or longer to take it to a place for burial. Just can't see it happening. *Wife: Priscilla Whitson Born: 1620 • Mildenhall, Forest Heath District, New Haven, Connecticut, America Death: 29 • September 1681 • Hartford County, Connecticut, America Burial: Parents of

This union is confirmed by William Powell the father of John Briggs Powell who named a child Kelso during his marriage with Mary Anderson, who is the woman he married after Elizabeth Briggs Powell passed away. It's been told it was the maiden name of his mother and grandmother. Also, it is said that Sarah was actually John's consort for awhile before he married her, and during that time is when William the eldest child of John and Sarah was born. Information validated on various genealogy sites. Some have tried to suppress this linage, even with public records disappearing, but there are many who have held private records and documents which prove this to be accurate, and it has been shared on some sites. At least accurate enough to be seriously considered. From what I was able to research on various sites the only question seems to be some individual's birth dates, but in my opinion it can be sorted through with careful reading of all records. Those confused on the birth or death dates may consider that they are the descendants of a child not mentioned and records were lost. It is a possibility.
