Description	:	Howard Searls, 94, Akron, died at the Akron hospital Thursday, May 23, after a brief illness. He was born at Rockford, III., July 31, 1873 and moved to Akron at the age of 10. He lived and farmed on the home place about 84 years, moving to Akron nursing home last year. His marriage to Mamie Christenson took place in Sioux City in 1913. She died in 1931. Funeral services were Monday at Emmanual Lutheran church, Akron. Rev. David J. Roy officiated and burial was in Riverside cemetery at Akron under direction of the Schroeder funeral home. Survivors are five sons, Walter, Lloyd Daniel and Billy all of Akron; Alvin, Sioux City; four daughters, Mrs. Warren Young, Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Robert Siebson, Minneapolis; Mrs. Don Winslow, Larchwood, and Mrs. Harry Wilier, Akron. There are 19 grandchildren. ---------------------------------------- Howard Searls Dead at 94 Funeral services for John Howard Searls, 94, pioneer Akron farmer, were held May 27 at Akron. He died at the Akron hospital May 23, after a brief illness. Mr. Searls was born in Rockford, Ill., July 31, 1873, and he came to Akron at the age of 10. He lived on the Searls farm until 1967 when he moved to the Akron nursing home. His wife, who preceded him in death in 1931, was the former Mamie Christenson. Having lived in the Akron community for about 85 years he knew what it was to be a pioneer, to see the rigors and hardships of depressions and periods of war and to enjoy the development of a fine growing neighborhood. Among survivors are his five sons, Walter, Lloyd, Daniel and William, all of Akron, and Alvin. Sioux City; four daughters, Mrs. Warren Young. Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Robert Siebson, Le Center. Minn., Mrs. Don Wenzel, Larchwood, and Mrs. Harry Willer, Akron; 19 grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. B. A. Adams, Akron.
