Description	:	J. Robert Jacobs of Sigourney died Thurs., Oct. 1 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. He was 84 years of age. He was born Dec. 6, 1903 to Claude and Myra Reynolds Jacobs five miles south of Sigourney. He graduated from Sigourney high school in 1922. He married LaRue Moore on Apr. 27, 1927 in Bloomfield. He worked as a mechanic and carpenter and farmed northeast of Sigourney for over 40 years. "Stormy", Gene, and Jack, all of Sigourney and Carroll of Vancouver, Wash,; two sisters, Ruth Fry of Delta and Viola Bensmiller of Sigourney. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Bessie Van Orsdale and one son, Robert Lee Jacobs. Funeral services were held Sat., Oct. 3 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Sigourney with the Rev. Gary Dobbins officiating. Burial was in Pennington Cemetery. Casket bearers were Robert Jacobs, Greg Jacobs, Stacey Berrier, Larry Gould and Frank Jacobs, Jr. Holm Funeral Home of Sigourney was in charge of the arrangements.
