Fulton, 69, former Topeka school physician, died Friday in the Veterans' Hospital at Wadsworth, Kan. He was taken to the hospital last fall after he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at his home, 2713 Harland Court. Dr. Fulton and bride started his practice in the horse and buggy days, first at Quinter, Kas. In the spring of 1893 they came to Dunavant, Kas., where he practiced among his many home friends. In the spring of 1907 he went to Kiowa, Kas. There he enjoyed a happy portion of his life, working at his profession and loving his people he worked with. In the fall of 1922 he moved to Emporia to place his children near the advantages of the college. He became health officer of Lyon County and carried on those duties until the fall of 1932, when he was employed by the Board of Education of the Topeka schools. He was born June 4, 1872, in Jefferson County, Kansas, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Fulton. In 1902 he was married to Mable Hubbard in Emporia, Kan. He had been a practicing physician in Kansas for almost foty one years. He started his practice in the ho9rse and buggy days at Kiowa, where he practiced until 1922. From 1922 until 1932 he was at Emporia, where he was health officer of Lyon County. He was a graduate of Campbell College at Holton, Kan., and the University of Kansas School of Medicine. In World War I he was a captain in the United States Army Medical Corps at Humphrey, Va. He was employed at the Topeka school as physician in 1932, and was the first and only physician ever employed by the Topeka school board. A. J. Stout, superintendent of schools, said he had only praise for the work accomplished by Dr. Fulton as school physician. He would get out of bed in the middle of the night to admisnister aid to a school child, he said. He was very generous and helped many students thru medical college, many of whom have become prominent physicians since that time. Doctor Fulton taught Sunday school at the First Methodist Church in Emporia and later at the Lowman Methodist Church in Topeka of which he was a member. He was also a member of the Shawnee County Medical Society, Argonauts Club and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mabel Fulton of the home, two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Carbaugh, Kansas City, Kan., and Mrs. Clayton Leach, of Pontiac, Mich.; one son, Joseph H. Fulton, in the United States Army Air Corps; three sisters, Mrs. Harry Hogan, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Charles Trimble, Winchester, Kan., and Mrs. George Koons, Valley Falls, Kan.; two brothers, W. S. Fulton, Winchester, Kan., and Dr. J. A. Fulton, Kansas City, Kan. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, at the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Mortuary from noon, Sunday, until the time of the services.--Saturday's Topeka Capital.
