Bossler John W. Bossler, 81, 725 Wayne, died Saturday at a Topeka hospital after an extended illness. He was born Dec. 28, 1897, at Birmingham, Kan., the son of Christian and Christina Koch Bossler. He had lived in Topeka since 1924. Mr. Bossler was a watchmaker for Santa Fe Watch Co. several years, and later worked for the Kansas Highway Department. He had worked at the Topeka Supply Depot several years and retired after 10 years working for the Topeka Police Department in 1967. He was a member of the Westside Christian Church, Orient Lodge No. 51, AF&AM, Scottish Rite bodies, Arab Shrine, Beulah Chapter 34, Order of Eastern Star. He was past commander, district commander, chaplain and department chaplain of Philip Billard Post 1650, Veterans of Foreign Wars and had been a member of the Military Order of Cooties, Pup Tent No. 3, Disabled American Veterans Post No. 3, and chaplain of Barracks 1113, Veterans of World War I. He was married to Christina Clark in March, 1953. She survives at the home. Other survivors include two sons, Kenneth N. Bossler, 1537 W. 23rd Park, and Keith V. Bossler, 2104 Brooklyn; one stepson, James W. Clark Jr., Gaithersburg, Md.; one sister, Mrs. Eunice Miller, 3032 Lydia; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Mount Hope Mausoleum. Graveside military services will be performed by members of Philip Billard Post No. 1650, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westside Christian Church or the Department Endowment Fund of the VFW post.
