He passed into the great beyond Thursday Sept 25, 1932 at his home on Benham street in Bonne Terre, MO, At the time of his departure he was 74 years 9 months and 28 days old. He leaves to mourn his passing the children, Harry of Desolge, John Clark, Charles, Wallace and Joseph Lee, all of whom are residing at their home in Bonne Terre. one sister Mrs Emma Boswell of Farmington, one granddaughter Joyce Helber of Desloge, mother in law Mrs Mary L. Horton and many other relatives. The deceased was married to Miss Jennie V. Johnson of Bonne Terre,MO in the year of 1883. To this union two children were born, one son and one daughter, Edwin and Victoria. Victoria died in infancy and Edwin passed away at the age of 28 years. Following the death of Mrs. Helber, Mr. Helber was again united in matrimony in the year of 1903. His second marriage was to Miss Lenna V. Horton also of Bonne Terre, and to this union five children were born, previously named, all surviving. The second shadow fell across the pathway of the deceased last February when his second wife passed away John Wesley Helber was born at Farmington, St. Francois, MO on Dec 1, 1857. His parents were Catherine and Christian Helber of Farmington, St. Francois, MO He was married to Jennie V. Johnson of Bonne Terre in the year 1883. To this union two children were born, one son and one daughter, Edwin and Victoria. Victoria died in infancy and Edwin passed away at the age of 22. His companion Mrs Jennie Helber died in November 1900. Mr Helber was again united in marriage to Miss Lenna V. Horton of Bonne Terre. To this union there were five children born, Harry of Desloge, john Clark, Charles, Wallace and Joseph Lee of Bonne Terre. Hr Helber professed faith in Christ when a boy. He united immediately thereafter with the church. He had been a church member for 60 years. He was Sunday School Superintendent of the Baptist Church Sunday School in Bonne Terre for a period of 25 years, he was clerk of the same church for about 20 years. He was also a teacher of one of the classes in the Sunday School for a number of years. He was active in the dismantling of the old church building and the construction of the new church edifice. He was ever willing to do what he was able to do for the ongoing of Chruch and Kingdom progress. Since his active leadership in church work was retarded on account of infirmaries he had attended and served to the best of his ability in the different phases of the church work. Mr Helber served a number of years as a member of the Bonne Terre Scholl board. He was also secretary of the school board for a period of time. He was associated with the St. Joseph Lead Company for 30 years, where he proved a valuable member of the force. He was connected with the Peoples Bank and Lead Belt Bank of this city, serving with the former for about a year and a half and with the Lead Belt Bank as cashier for 6 years. Mr Helber in his earlier life studied law and was admitted to the bar in the year of 1880. He did not practice law, especially plead law, on account of in impediment in his speech. He served in the post office at Farmington when a young man and drew up the first money order issued by the Farmington office. Even though Mr Helber had been an active man in his life time it was with him as with most people, he had a hobby, his farm east of Bonne Terre was his hobby. He took a delight in looking after his farm, doing odd jobs etc, mostly because he just loved to be out with nature.
