Description	:	John Wilhelm Herman Heinrich True, also known as John Henry True, was born in Magelson, Germany, to Johann Heinrich True and Sophie Catharina Margaretha Koester. His parents came with their children to the US in 1877. They settled in Iroquois Co, IL, on a farm five miles North of Cissna Park, Ash Grove Township, to be near a brother of the mother of the family. He was confirmed on 13 April, 1884 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, across the road from their farm. John became a citizen of the United States on 4 January 1892 at Watseka, which was the county seat The witnesses were his brother Ehler True and Henry Butzow. John Henry True married Bertha Lienhardt in Cissna Park, IL, on 21 January, 1892 by the Justice of the Peace, James Salkeld. Herman Lohman was a witness. They lived in Kansas and Nebraska and raised eleven children together as well as had 3 children who died at birth, two were a set of twins. John was a farmer, and soon after they were married, they moved to Herkimer, Kansas, where other True relatives were living. They lived around Herkimer and Marysville until around 1900, and then moved to Weeping Water, Nebraska. Some other places they lived were Avoca, and Otoe, and retired in Cedar Creek. These towns are all south of Omaha. Daughter Sophia "Susie" recalls a visit from her father's brothers Ehler, Henry and Christian. Christian was so tall that the children all stared at him. Their father, John, was the shortest of the True brothers. Mary Ann True Beins, John's grand-daughter, has a funny memory of John. She said he was ornery, and one time when he joined his son Christian and his family for dinner, Mary Ann asked Grandpa True to pass the butter. John picked up the butter and literally threw it to her way down the table. Her mother, Mary, was not so pleased, but the children all thought it was hilarious. Mary Ann also related that John loved to go fishing, and playing cards. John lived with daughter Alice Franke and her husband Hank, and daughter Deanna when he passed away suddenly. He had taken a walk to the grocery store, purchased a loaf of bread, and as he walked out of the store, died suddenly. I found another document that said he died on December 4th.
