Description	:	Joseph Albert Shors was born Jan. 26, 1875 in Chicago, Ill. His parents were John and Mary Shors and he was one of a family of 5 brothers and 4 sisters. After spending his childhood and early youth in Chicago he engaged in farming at Pocahontas, Iowa. For several years he was employed in northeast Nebraska as an auditor for the Edwin Bradford Lumber Co. He came to Beemer in 1909. Read More	Joseph Albert Shors was born Jan. 26, 1875 in Chicago, Ill. His parents were John and Mary Shors and he was one of a family of 5 brothers and 4 sisters. After spending his childhood and early youth in Chicago he engaged in farming at Pocahontas, Iowa. For several years he was employed in northeast Nebraska as an auditor for the Edwin Bradford Lumber Co. He came to Beemer in 1909. In 1910 he married Miss Morva Clayton of this community ... they continued to make Beemer their home. Here they reared their family of one daughter and four sons. Also in the year 1910 he began the Hardware, Furniture and Undertakeing business in which he was engaged continunusly for 31 years. During this long business career he established a broaed acquaintance. Because of his integrity of character and interest in civic affairs he had the honor and respect of all who knew him. He was always a gendrous father, providing for his family and endeavoring to fit them for useful citizenship. He was a member of the Congregational church and had served the best interest of the community in various capacities. Six years ago he suffered a paralytic stroke. After a year of convalescing he was able to resume partial oversight of his business, but had never regained his former balance of powers and physical strength. He realized that he was less and less able to carry on, and without hope of recovery life weighed heavily upon him. He died Dec. 16, 1939, aged 64 years 10 months 29 days. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from will Congragational church, Rev. H. A. and all officiating. The music was furnished by Mrs. Clarence Galbraith and Mrs. Edw. Bass, Mrs. A. E. Furiak sang accompanied by Miss Margery Bass, and Mrs. M. J. Shors with violin obligato. Burial was in the family lot here.
