He was assisted by the Rev. Fr. Michael Kelvek of Lohrville, former pastor here and the Rev. Jerome Koenig of this place. Interment was in Calvary cemetery. Shors, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Shors Sr. was born December 8, 1868 at Spillville. She was united in marriage, Jan. 28, 1888 at Spillville with Michael Sernett, and they lived their entire life in Pocahontas county. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul's Catholic church. They were the parents of six children, Will of Rolfe, James of Fonda, Mrs. Ralph Roberts of Emmetsburg and Joe and Mrs. Jerry Hotovec of this place. Her husband and one son Lee preceded her in death. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Regina Stone of this place, and three brothers, Ed Shors, Cedar Rapids; and John Shors and James Shors of this place also survive. One sister and two brothers also preceded her in death. All of the grandchildren were present for the funeral except two grandsons, Joseph Sernett and William Hotovec, who are in service. Others from a distance who attended the rites were: Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hinken and Joan Sernett of Algona; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Sernett and Rodney, and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sernett and children of Hampton; Mr. and Mrs. Will Chizek and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Chizek of Britt; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Humpal of Fort Dodge; Mrs. Rose Westerlund, Red Oak; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kleigel and Mr. and Mrs .Leonard Sernett of Curlew; Mr. and Mrs. Don Roberts and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Roberts of Emmetsburg; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sernett of Rolfe and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sernett of Fonda." contributed by Ann Bowler #46893124
