Feld, 63, who spent his life in Carroll and vicinity, died at 8:45 last night at the St. Anthony hospital, succumbing to a stroke which he suffered at his home shortly before 9 o'clock yesterday morning. He was taken to the hospital about two hours after he was stricken. Funeral services, with solemn requiem mass, will be held at SS. Peter and Paul church at 9 o'clock Monday morning. The body is being returned at 4:30 this afternoon from the Sharp Funeral home to the family residence, 120 South Court street, to remain there until the time of the rites. The rosary, led by the Rev. Father Lambert Schenkelberg, will be prayed at the family home at 8 o'clock Sunday evening. Mr. Feld, a retired farmer, was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Feld, sr., who were Carroll county pioneers. He was born on the old homestead in Grant township, two miles north and two miles east of Carroll, Jan. 14, 1882. . He remained at the family home until his marriage to Miss Catherine Mary Wilden of Carroll, which took place at SS. Peter and Paul church Sept. 25, 1907. The nuptial mass was read by Mr. Feld's cousin the Rev. Father Schiefen of Fenimore, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Feld established their home on a farm two miles east and one mile north of Carroll, where they lived for two years. They then moved to their own farm one mile east and two miles north of Carroll, on which they resided for about 25 years. Since their retirement, they have lived in their present home on South Court Street. Mr. Feld was a member of SS. Peter and Paul church and the Holy Name society of the parish. He died well fortified with the last rites of the church. Surviving with his wife are five sons and one daughter: Joseph, St Louis, Mo.; LeRoy, Halbur; Walter and Linus, Carroll; S/Sgt. Anthony, who is on his way home from India, and Mrs. William Tigges (Alvera), Kalamazoo, Mich., and 13 grandchildren. He also leaves one brother and one sister, Henry Feld and Miss Anna Feld, both of Carroll. Mr. Feld was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Pvt. Marvin, who lost his life in France Aug. 2, 1944, and Ray, twin son of LeRoy, who died at the age of two and one-half months; a daughter, Helen, who passed away when two and one-half years old; two brothers, William and Edward, and one sister Mrs John Bedford, Emma. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Six nephews of Mr. Feld were pallbearers: Ernest Feld of Rockwell City, Leo Feld, Edward M. Feld, Charles Feld, Conrad Feld, and Walter Lamberty.
